About us

Dr. Vilar is a highly accomplished computational scientist with over 25 years of experience, spanning both academia and industry, in Data Analysis, Computational Chemistry, Drug Discovery and Development, Translational Science and Pharmacovigilance.
He worked as a researcher at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH, USA), where he focused on molecular modeling—including molecular dynamics, docking, and homology modeling—as well as ligand-based statistical studies.

Later, at the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University (New York), Dr. Vilar conducted research in pharmacovigilance and large-scale data mining of healthcare data and the Electronic Health Records from the Presbyterian Hospital.

In addition to his extensive academic background, reflected in over 80 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals covering Computational Chemistry and Data Science, Dr. Vilar has held several influential roles in the private sector. At Truvitech, he contributed to the identification of pharmacological targets by integrating machine learning, biochemical profiling, and cell-based screening technologies.

From 2021 to 2025, he led computational drug discovery, design, and development efforts at Polarisqb, managing both internal R&D projects and collaborations with pharmaceutical clients.

Dr. Vilar is currently the founder and CEO of Metryca, a consulting firm specializing in Computational Chemistry and Data Science.
